We've got a surgery date.

Dear All
Thanks again for all your love and encouragement. We are happy to say that we will be going in for Sylvia's surgery on January 8th. It seems a long way out for us and we have some mixed feelings about the wait. As always, Sylvia seems to be weathering this well, although there doesn't seem to be any improvement in the siezures with her second medicine she's tried so far. We remain optimistic, and will to some degree, be able to set this aside through the holidays. She won't need to go in again until the 7th of January for her pre-op appointment.
Love to you all
Dori

Sylvia's visit with her surgeon

Today we met the surgeon who will be doing Sylvia's surgery. He outlined what the procedure will be and the timing of it. His view of Sylvia's case was generally more optimistic than we had heard from her neurologist. We will now wait to hear from the scheduler for the next available date to schedule her surgery. We are encouraged and grateful for all of your prayers for us. Thank you.

We'll wait a little longer

Sylvia is still doing about the same, seizure-wise. The surgeon we are assigned to, was not able to be at the meeting on Tuesday and so we are still waiting for a date to be set. We are scheduled to meet with him to discuss the surgery this coming Tuesday, the 4th.

Update on Sylvia's Surgical Timeline

Hi all.
I am writing to keep you all up to date on what we know. We will have a chance to meet Sylvia's surgeon on November 4th and pose our questions. As for an actual surgery date, we are still on hold. I was told that they ran out of time at the meeting yesterday and that Sylvia's case was not presented at the Surgeon's meeting. That means they will put her case off until next week, so our surgery is still at least three weeks out. We will have to be content with that. Please continue to pray that the plan the doctor's decide on, will be the best for Sylvia, and of course that God himself would heal her on his own, or through the doctors.

Brain Mapping test completed

Hi all.
Thanks for staying tuned. Sylvia had a rough few hours but the technicians appeared to be pretty happy with the results they were able to get. She was still pretty scared by the whole experience and the sedation medication made her irritable, but she slept in the testing room for 2 hours allowing them to map many brain functions and observe her EEG at the same time. They will need a few days to compile everything so they expect her case will be presented in the surgical committee on the 21st of October. In the meantime her seizures are not improving, but she remains unphased by them and is cheerful and energetic. We will wait patiently until we get a further plan and continue to pray for her healing.

Round two for Brain Mapping

We are rescheduled for our second attempt with the brain mapping test on Monday the 13th. We've rehearsed it with Sylvia and we are praying things are less intimidating this time around. Once again we are very thankful for all your prayers and offers of help.

Still no surgery date

Sylvia was a little overtired and intimidated by the equipment at her test today and so it will be postponed until later this week. We have thrown all timetables of our own out the window and we will proceed with life normally and make no guesses as to surgery dates or timelines. As soon as I think I have a plan, it's changed anyway.
Securely in God's hands,
The Twedts

Sylvia's Music Video

Sylvia is attempting to sing a song from her Kids Praise CD and she has the words a little wrong. I guess I can't fault her for not being familiar with phrases like "Glory Halleluja" and "When My Burden's Heavy".

Surgical meeting today

We received a call following the surgical meeting today and Sylvia's case was presented and the conclusion was reached that there should be one additional test before surgery. They want a "brain mapping" test done and we should be able to get in for that on Monday the 6th so that the information will be ready for the meeting next week (Tuesday). Thanks for all your encouragement and posts. I appreciate your kindness.

Friends

Waiting for a surgery date

Today is Monday, the 29th of September and we are approaching tomarrow with mixed feelings. Tuesday, the 30th is the date for the surgery team meeting where Sylvia will be assigned a surgeon and we will be allowed to set a date for surgery. We are anxious to proceed and get started on her recovery, but of course apprehensive for what is to come.
